This time I finished Micro Cabin's Dreamland! Micro Cabin is most known for Mystery House (different from the Sierra one), the first Japanese graphic adventure game! Unfortunately this game has nothing going for it. This is the blandest 1983 adventure game I've played so far.

In Dreamland you've fallen asleep and have gotten stuck in Dreamland, so you must explore and solve puzzles to find the exit. The game is going for a fairy tale vibe, but the graphics have very little interesting going on. There's three main areas, but it's samey forests, houses, mountains, etc. with a couple fairy tale animals sprinkled throughout. As for the puzzles, the game apparently has a reputation for being difficult, but I used a walkthrough so I can't really speak to that. The parser is English with descriptions in Japanese, so you have to figure out what translation they went with for the game, which might be part of it.

The game also takes inspiration from Alice in Wonderland in its setup and puzzles, which is interesting because Micro Cabin would release an Alice in Wonderland game the next year.
