This time I finished The Dark Crystal, the sixth and final Hi-Res Adventure from Sierra On-Line based on the film of the same name from The Jim Henson Company! I played because I just watched the movie and enjoyed it. Unfortunately I haven't played any of the other Hi-Res Adventures besides Mystery House, so I can't really do any comparisons with previous entries.
The game pretty closely follows the movie with the addition of some extra obstacles in between for puzzles. This makes it somewhat linear as the story is very much location to location. It tries its best to match the film's visuals, but there's only so much you can do at this time compared to how good the film looked. I wonder if it being an adaption is why the graphics are in third-person instead of first-person, where you are following Jen rather than completely being him.
There's another version of this game made for children called Gelfling Adventure released in 1984 which I played also, but will leave that for a separate post. (Here's that separate post.)
